I'm Karen, and I enjoy collaboration and solving challenging problems. Currently, I'm working as a Senior User Experience Designer at Capital One in New York City .
Before moving to the Big Apple, I lived in Northern Virginia, working as a Lead Software Engineer with the Department of Defense. At that time, I was acting as a full-stack engineer lead and product designer, working closely with clients.
So what led me to UX? I graduated in 2018 at University of Virginia with a double major in Computer Science and Cognitive Science. While I was heavily interested in both fields, it wasn't until my final year of university that I had finally found a field that married the two together: user experience design.
Cognitive Science fueled my interests in how people think and behave, while Computer Science piques my interest in the latest tech. My goal is to improve people's lives through positive design experiences.
When I'm not designing, I enjoy traveling, trying different types of food and blogging about my food experiences. You can also catch me on the mat, doing yoga or pilates!
